This is the download page for the Planning Your Entry Level Stewardship (ELS) Application Software.  For further information about the software go to:

To install the Planning Your ELS Application Software Software, on most modern computers running recent versions of Windows, you only need download the following MSI file. On older computers and versions of Windows you may need to install some support files (see below) before you can run the installer. Please also view the system requirements below.

Download: Planning Your ELS Application.msi (20.8 MB)

When you have downloaded the file follow the steps below to install the software:

  1. Close all other programs on your computer
  2. Double-click on the "Planning Your ELS Application.msi" file to start the installation (please view the notes about support files below). Sometimes on Windows XP, the installer will display "Source could not be verified - Run or Cancel?", if it does, select Run.
  3. On the Welcome screen of the installation click on 'Next'
  4. On the Installation Folder screen either accept the default folder (C:\Program Files\Planning Your ELS Application\) or use the Browse button to select an alternative folder. Then click on 'Next'.
  5. On the Confirm screen, to start the installation click on 'Next'
  6. The installer will now copy the files on to your computer (this may take a few minutes).
  7. You will be informed if the installation has been successful.
  8. Click on 'Next' and then 'Close' to finish the installation.
  9. Restart you computer

Support Files:

In some instances (mainly older operating systems such as Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 and NT) you may also need to download and install one or more of the following files depending on your operating system.  If you are unable to run the file "Planning Your ELS Application.msi" once you have downloaded it, follow the instructions below to install the support files if required.

If you are running Windows 95, 98 or ME then you may need to install the Microsoft Windows Installer system. InstMsiA.exe (1.7 MB)
If you are running Windows 2000 or NT then you may need to install the Microsoft Windows Installer system. InstMsiW.exe (1.8 MB)
In some instances, when you try to install Microsoft Windows Installer, you may be prompted to install Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC). mdac_typ.exe (7.7 MB)
Sometimes on Windows 95 you may be prompted to install Microsoft Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) before you can install MDAC. Dcom98.exe (1.2 MB)

To install any of the above files download the file and double-click on it to run it, then follow the on screen instructions.

System Requirements:

Java Runtime Files for "Show Me" Help System:

If you are unable to view the Show Me help files in the software you may need to install the following files:

You may need to install the Java 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3.1. j2re-1_3_1_01-win.exe (5.2 MB)
You may also need to install Microsoft Vitrual Machine (VM).  If you are using Windows 95, 98, ME or XP then download and run the file "msjavx86.exe" msjavx86.exe (5.2 MB)

To install any of the above files download the file and double-click on it to run it, then follow the on screen instructions.
