Whole systems modelling

The agricultural environment is a complex system in which a wide range of interacting processes combine to result in a series of environmental outcomes. Changing any element in this system to reduce an identified problem, may result in a cascade of changes that can cause greater damage in other areas. It is therefore vital that the systems at work are clearly understood if the environmental impact of farming is to be minimised and controlled.

AERU has worked on a wide range of projects requiring the quantitative modelling of agri-environmental systems, particularly the inevitable links and trade-offs between system elements, and is at the forefront of the development of practical modelling solutions to contribute to the day-to-day management of agricultural businesses.
