EcoCampus is a national
Environmental Management System (EMS) and award scheme for the higher education sector, which is closely aligned to ISO14001
the international environmental management system (EMS)standard. The scheme provides universities with the tools
necessary to assist them in moving towards environmental sustainability and therefore good operational and risk management
practices.
The scheme is broken down into four phases. As the University meets the criteria of each stage an award ranging from Bronze to Platinum will be achieved.
The EcoCampus project started in August 2006, the bronze phase was completed in February 2008 and the silver in April 2008. The University aims to complete the platinum phase by July 2009.
