What are we doing?
Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium

The University spends over £30 million per year on goods and services. Over 20% of purchases are made from the Hertfordshire area. The University's Purchasing Department works on a number of issues to ensure sustainability is integrated into the procurement process. This includes:

  • A sustainable purchasing policy
  • Encouraging local suppliers
  • Waste minimisation and recycling
  • Use of environmental criteria
  • Whole Life Costing
  • Environmental and corporate risk analysis of the supply chain
  • Training and awareness for staff
  • Part of the SUPC Environment Group
