The Board of Governors and the Office of the Vice Chancellor have ultimate responsibility for the environmental performance of UH. The Office of the Vice Chancellor conducts an annual review of the University's environmental management system.
The Pro Vice Chanellor and Director of Finance is the senior manager with responsibility for environmental issues at UH.
The Environment Team form part of the Compliance Unit which also includes Health & Safety and Internal Audit. The Unit reports to the Pro Vice Chancellor and Director of Finance.

There are three main groups that exist to ensure the environmental performance of the University:
