 |
(Also known as: calcium hydroxide phosphate; tricalcium phosphate; tricalcium orthophosphate ) |
Calcium phosphate is an inorganic salt that has a range of pesticidal functions. The substance has a high aqueous solubility but is not volatile and is not considered to be problematic for environmental quality considering the quantities used. No significant human health issues have been identified. Although there is a data gap for ecotoxicology data calcium phosphate is not likely to be a serious issue. |
The following alerts are based on the data in the tables below. An absence of an alert does not imply the substance has no implications for human health, biodiversity or the environment but just that we do not have the data to form a judgement.

Calcium phosphate is found in many living organisms including bones, teeth, milk, some vegetables and fish |
|
Calcium phosphate is produced commercially using a variety of different methods depending on the specific type of calcium phosphate required. One of the main techniques mixes defluorinated phosphoric acid with high-quality limestone or other calcium salts in a reaction vessel. The resulting calcium phosphate is separated, dried and ground. Another process mixes phosphate rock with phosphoric acid and sodium hydroxide in a reaction vessel, then heated to high temperatures. The resulting calcium phosphate is ground to the desired particle size |
