GENERAL INFORMATION
Description
A predatory mite that can be used for the biological control of spider mites
Example pests controlled
Spider mites, in particular Tetranychus urticae and Panonychus ulmi; Bamboo mites; Citrus mites; Flower thrips
Example applications
Orchards; Top fruit; Soft fruit; Ornamentals; Protected vegetables
Efficacy & activity
-
Appearance and life cycle
Adults are reddish-brown, pear-shaped & slightly smaller than the European red mite. The eggs are pear shaped, almost transparent, but slightly larger than the round European red mite eggs. Mites pierce their prey and suck out the thrips internal organs to eat.
