(Also known as: Eucalyptus snout beetle parasitoid; Anaphoidea nitens; Anaphes gonipteri; Fairy fly) |
The following alerts are based on the data in the tables below. An absence of an alert does not imply the substance has no implications for human health, biodiversity or the environment but just that we do not have the data to form a judgement. These hazard alerts do not take account of usage patterns or exposure, thus do not represent risk.
| Environmental fate | Ecotoxicity | Human health |

| | A minute, ~0.5mm in length, solitary parasitic wasp. Female injects her eggs in to the weevil. Larvae hatch and eats the host egg from inside. The adult wasp emerges from the host egg and the adult female searches for suitable host eggs in which to deposit her eggs and so restart the cycle |

| | Usually supplied as adult wasps |
| | Commercial or mass production of Anaphes nitens involves several key steps. Firstly, the eggs of the eucalyptus snout beetle (Gonipterus spp.) are collected as they serve as the primary host for A. nitens. Female wasps inject their eggs into the host eggs. The larvae hatch inside and consume the host egg from within. The parasitoids develop inside the host egg until the adult wasps emerge. They are then collected and prepared for distribution. |
