2-(octylthio)ethanol (Ref: R-874)
Last updated: 15/01/2023
(Not known by any other names)
2-(octylthio)ethanol is a largely obsolete volatile insect repellent that was mainly used to control termite infestations. Data regarding its environmental fate is scant. It is moderately toxic to fish, algae and aquatic invertebrates. It had a low mammalian oral toxicity and is a recognised skin and eye irritant.
The following alerts are based on the data in the tables below. An absence of an alert does not imply the substance has no implications for human health, biodiversity or the environment but just that we do not have the data to form a judgement.
