The FOOTPRINT Tools: FOOT-FS

FOOT-FS (Farm Scale) is targeted towards farmers and advisors, and aims to:

1. Identify the pathways and those areas that most contribute to contamination of water resources by pesticides at the scale of the farm.
2. Provide site-specific recommendations to limit the transfer of pesticides to water resources.

FOOT-FS is a stand-alone application which allows users to determine whether their crop protection practices have the potential to result in cointamination of water resources (groundwater and surface). Predictions of pesticide concentrations in leachate and runoff/erosion rely on the pesticide fate models MACRO and PRZM, whilst simpler, more pragmatic, approaches (e.g. drift lookup tables) are used to assess pesticide inputs via spray drift and point sources (e.g. storage area, farmyards).
