(Also known as: acetic acid ammonium salt) |
SUMMARY |
Ammonium acetate is mainly used as a non-lethal attractant for the Mediterranean fruit fly. However, it also has fungicidal and insecticidal properties. It is currently approved for use in the EU. It is non-volatile, highly soluble in water and, based on its chemical properties, is not expected to leach to groundwater. Ammonium acetate has a moderate mammalian toxicity and there is some risk of bioaccumulation. It is a recognised irritant. Ecotoxicological data is scarce but data suggests that ammonium acetate is moderately toxic to fish. |
