|
Iodofenphos is produced through a targeted esterification process. The synthesis begins with O,O-dimethylthiophosphoryl chloride, which reacts with 2,5-dichloro-4-iodophenol sodium salt. This reaction typically occurs in an organic solvent like dichloromethane or benzene under controlled temperature and stirring conditions. The thiophosphoryl chloride acts as the electrophilic agent, forming a phosphorothioate ester bond with the phenolic component. After the reaction is complete, the mixture is purified through filtration, solvent extraction, and crystallization, yielding iodofenphos. | |||
|
Data for the amount of life cycle GHGs produced by iodofenphos are not available in the public domain. However, whilst estimates vary, more general data suggests that between 14 and 19 kilograms of CO₂e is emitted per kilogram of insecticide produced. |
