Netobimin is synthesised as a pro-benzimidazole compound, designed to be metabolised into the active anthelmintic albendazole within the host. Its production involves a multi-step chemical process starting with the formation of a thiophene ring substituted with a nitro group and a propylthio side chain, which is then linked to a guanidine moiety. This intermediate is further reacted with ethanesulfonic acid derivatives to yield the final netobimin molecule. | |||
