2022-2023: Service request supporting the evaluation of the Nitrates Directive (91/676/EEC) and analysis of the answers to the public consultation on the Integrated Nutrient Management Action Plan (Ref. ENV.F.1/FRA/2019/0001)
The objective of this study is to support the Commission in preparing an evaluation of the Nitrates Directive (ND) under the framework of Better Regulation and "REFIT" (Regulatory Fitness and Performance Programme). Since adoption of the ND both the policy and environmental landscape of the EU have changed significantly requiring a reassessment of the past and present performance of the ND. This will allow the Commission to make an evidence-based assessment of whether the ND remains fit for purpose and is achieving its objectives to promote a more informed decision-making, which ultimately contributes to better regulations and the delivery of higher benefits of policies at lower (minimum) cost.
