2026-2029: Towards a Harmonised landscape that expands the Role of citizen science in biodIVersity & Ecosystem monitoring (THRIVE) (Ref. Grant Agreement number: 101289005 — THRIVE — HORIZON-CL6-2025-01)
THRIVE aims to deliver a step change in citizen science for biodiversity and ecosystem observation towards more holistic monitoring systems. This will include harmonising tools and data flows, building capacity, engaging diverse communities, and embedding citizen science data into policy and governance. AERU's main role will be on implementing and scaling biodiversity and ecosystem observation through practice cases working closely with the Nordic Agency for Development and Ecology (NORDECO) in Denmark. This will build on the work recently undertaken by AERU in the H2020 Framework project including utilising the Farmland Ecosystem Assessment Support Tool (FEAST). It is hoped that THRIVE will transform a diversity of citizens into active stewards of nature, united by shared values and collective responsibility for safeguarding Europe’s biodiversity and ecosystems. THRIVE is funded by the EU under the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2025 (H2025).
